Mission and goal
Our mission is to help. We have been doing so for years, investing our whole souls, hearts, energy and professionalism. We support poor and marginalised children who possess
remarkable potential and vivid talents. Mother, home and family are irreplaceable, yet fate is often unjust and unkind. It is also true that every third child in Bulgaria grows up at risk
of poverty and deprivation. These are the children outside the educational system; sadly, their numbers are rising. Many lose their identity and prospects, becoming part of an uneducated underclass and sliding into a vicious cycle of drugs, prostitution and crime.
Our mission at the Dimitar Ekimov School of Arts & Crafts is to save at least some of these children. This means giving children at risk an equal start and fair opportunity, nurturing
their individuality and guiding them towards personal and spiritual growth. By giving them attention, warmth and love, they grow into brave and sincere young people who dream,
seek challenges and fight for their hopes and future. This is their innate human right, yet the children we are speaking about have been deprived of it. We believe it is unacceptable to lose bright and talented young people who could thrive and strengthen Bulgaria.
Our school provides such support, and we can already see the results. We welcome children with various social, emotional and educational deficits stemming from their circumstances; through hard work, patience and wisdom we cultivate well‑rounded individuals with a firm value system and a creative, modern outlook.
The Dimitar Ekimov School is a large‑scale project through which we want to reach the hearts and minds of many people, touch them and make them stand behind the idea. We dream of it becoming a mission for the entire society.
It is important for us, as people, not to forget that we can always be better, more compassionate and more responsive to one another.
